2FRENCH SCHOOL TRAVELHistory
-
- Normandy a la Carte was formed in 1997 by Andrew
Caverhill, a French language teacher, Ian Wood,
an ex-marine who specialised in outdoor pursuits,
who is normally called Woody and a School travel
expert, Sarah Jane Wood (Sas!). - Many party leaders already knew them and their
reputation grew from their conscientious and
caring philosophy to provide the very best
Normandy language trips possible for school
tours. The main idea was to treat every school
and party leader as an individual who had their
own particular needs and they set about to
provide a bespoke quality service taking account
of exactly each school needed and wanted. Hence
the name Normandy a la Carte!
3FRENCH SCHOOL TRAVEL
Most of the earliest groups stayed in Les Grange
Espins and a la Carte still work there, but in
1999 they acquired their own centre in the little
rural village of Le Fougeray. La Grand Ferme was
quickly established as a centre of excellence and
has been enjoyed by many many school groups over
the years. Now as the organisation is a bit
larger, a la Carte also employ some French native
animateurs to help deliver the activities and the
French immersion and the evening programme. The
pupils have a great time and learn French
language and culture into the bargain - All
within a friendly and safe family atmosphere.
Its a formula that works!
4FRENCH SCHOOL TRAVEL
- In 2013 Normandy a la Carte teamed up
with Château de la Baudonnière in order to
provide an even larger menu of activities
resources and French native staff. - So if you are a teacher who wants the very best
learning and fun experience for your group on a
French School trip then we will work in
partnership with you to provide a tailor made
programme specifically for you and your group. -
