What is a Comma Splice?
  • A comma splice is the incorrect use of a comma to
    connect two independent clauses.
  • Example Elizabeth Bennet displays strong
    feminist traits in Jane Austens Pride and
    Prejudice, her strongest feminist trait is her
    independence.
  • Correct or Incorrect?

How do we fix it?
  • Create 2 sentences by adding a period.
  • Replace the comma with a semicolon.
  • Join the two clauses with a conjunction such as
    and, but, because, etc.
