Title: Animal Adaptations At V'U'E'S'

1
Animal Adaptations At V.U.E.S.
  • Created By K.D. I.P.

2
Focusing Question
  • Which species are or are not well adapted to the
habitat of the pond in the V.U.E.S. outdoor
    classroom?

3
Dragonflies
  • Dragonflies are well adapted to the pond because
they are used to the water and they were born in
    the water.
  • Also, adult dragonflies mostly stay near water
but only once in a while they leave the pond
    while hunting or migrating.
  • When a dragonfly is born it lives in the water
while metamorphosis is occurring and they stay in
the water until they are ready to become a
    dragonfly.

4
Frogs
  • Frogs are well adapted to the habitat of the pond
because frogs like fresh water that doesn't have
a lot of movement and is sort of mellow.
  • Also, they are well adapted to the pond because
their skin is made to breath underwater and not
    underwater.
  • They lay their eggs in the water and some frogs
can be on land and in water so they are adapted
    to two habitats.

5
Mosquitoes
  • Mosquitoes need still fresh water or slightly
salty water for their larvae to grow.
  • Mosquitoes also like humid habitats to live in.
  • So mosquitoes are well adapted to the pond in the
    reasons we wrote above.

6
Snapping Turtles
  • Snapping turtles live in only fresh water or
brackish water, but they prefer water with muddy
bottoms and lots of vegetation, so they can hide
    more easily.
  • So what we have written may not suit the habitat
of the pond or it might.

7
Sidewinders
  • Sidewinders would not like the habitat of the
pond because they like arid desert flatlands,
loose, sandy washes, hard pan flats and rocky
    areas, below 5,000 feet.

8
Conclusion
  • So animals that would like or survive in the
pond would be, dragonflies, frogs, mosquitoes,
    and snapping turtles.
  • Animals that would not like or survive are only
    sidewinders.
  • So as you can see not all animals are well
adapted to the pond, but some animals are very
well adapted and they can survive.
