Constitutional Amendments

• Congress can propose amendments by a two-thirds
  vote in each house.
• The House can choose a president.
• The House has the power to impeach and the Senate
  has the power to try the case.

Impeached Presidents

• Andrew Johnson was impeached because he violated
  the law of tenure of office.
• He was acquitted by the Senate.
• Bill Clinton was impeached because of
  inappropriate relations with an intern.
• He was acquitted by the Senate.
• Nixon resigned because he was going to be
  impeached.

Executive Powers

• All appointments made by the President have to be
  approved by a majority vote of the Senate.
• All treaties made by the President must be
  approved by two-thirds vote in the Senate.
• Congress can also investigate to help with its
  legislative powers.
