23Summary
- The existing integrated main grid transmission
system was developed to optimize Western load
resource patterns and diversity - Capacity delivery transmission developed between
Phoenix and along the West Coast - Energy delivery system developed in East Side of
the Western Interconnection - While load growth has occurred in many Western
States, major new transmission and generation has
not been added in the last several years - New proposed existing generation additions are
primarily gas-fired - Transmission infrastructure additions are needed
to allow integration of new East Side wind and
thermal resources into the Western Interconnection
