Accessing Newspapers and Magazines in the BEHS
Library

• The only way to access them is via ProQuest
• An online research tool
• A database for accessing newspaper and articles
• The ONLY way to efficiently look for magazine and
  newspaper articles in the BEHS library

• The ONLY way to access it is through the school

TIP 2 Brainstorm a list of search terms before
searching

• Example I want information about television
  violence and its effect on children. Here are
  some terms I might search for
• Television violence
• Television and children
• Media violence
• Television-effect on children

TIP 3 Vary the order of search terms and the
wording

• Examples If Im searching for information on the
  link between tattoos and infections, I might type
  the following phrases into the search bar
• Tattoos AND infection
• Infection AND tattoos
• Tattooing AND infection
• Infection from tattooing

TIP 4 Spell words and phrases correctly

• The computer cant thinkit only looks for
  exactly what you give it. If you tell it to look
  for Gorge W. Bush, it willand it wont find
  anything!
• Examples
• Make sure there are spaces between words (high
  school, not highschool)
• Use complete names when they are knownGeorge W.
  Bush, not George Bush (they are two different
  people)
