Regional Arts Fund

• Supports a broad range of arts projects in
  regional and remote communities.
• To encourage and support sustainable,
  community-related cultural development in
  regional Australia.

• 16.1 million over 4 years.
• August 2006 round, 92 projects totalling almost
  1 million, average funding 10,727.
• Usually two rounds March/August.
• Program devolved to each state/territory.

• A wide range of Community Grants.
• Quick Response Grants.
• Contact the Regional Arts Organisation in your
  state, or Arts Ministry in your territory for
  specific funding categories.

Festivals Australia FestivalsAustralia
Regional Residencies

• Supporting cultural projects at festivals in
  regional Australia.
• Supporting regional and remote communities to
  tell their stories at festivals and major
  community celebrations.

• 1.5 million each year.
• Last round, 45 projects totalling over 696,379,
  average funding 15,475.
• Two rounds February/July.

Can I apply?

• Festivals organisers, including Local Councils
  and nonprofit organisations may apply.
• Funding is to support new, innovative arts
  projects, within a festival. Funding is not
  available to establish or operate a festival.

Playing Australia

• To support performing arts tours to regional and
  remote Australia.
• Designed to assist tours across State and
  Territory boundaries where this is currently not
  commercially viable.

• Approx 5.8 million per year.
• Last round, 22 tours totalling over 2.9 million,
  average funding 133,536.
• Two rounds June/December.

Can I apply?

• Available to incorporated organisations or
  registered legal entities.
• Funding is to support Net Touring Costs only,
  these being travel, freight, accommodation and
  per diems, or Guarantee Against Loss.

Contemporary Music Touring Program

• Making live, original Australian contemporary
  music accessible to wider audiences, particularly
  in regional and remote areas.
• Assistance provided for costs directly associated
  with touring (excludes recording).

• 1 million over 4 years.
• Last round, 9 tours totalling over 81,300,
  average funding 9,000. Although no remote tours
  funded in last round, they tend to average
  20,000
• Two rounds February/July.

Can I apply?

• All professional members of the Australian Music
  Industry eligible.
• Preference given to performers with some touring
  experience.
• Tours to regional/remote or applicants based in
  regional/remote given priority.

Visions of Australia

• The Australian governments national touring
  exhibitions funding program.
• Aims to provide more Australians with the
  opportunity to access Australian cultural
  material, particularly in regional/remote areas.

Visions Facts and figures

• 1.9 million in 2006-07.
• Visions has provided over 23.4 million to tour
  568 exhibitions, to over 3600 venues, across
  Australia.
• Two rounds April/September.

Can I apply?

• Exhibition must have an Australian theme, feature
  Australian artists or be from an Australian
  collection.
• Tours should include at least 3 venues, one of
  which is interstate.
• Exhibitions that are commercial in nature are not
  eligible.

National Arts and Crafts Industry Support (NACIS)

• provides direct funding support to Indigenous art
  centres and support organisations, with the
  overall objective of assisting art centres to
  become stronger and building a more sustainable
  Indigenous visual arts industry.

Indigenous Culture Support (ICS)

• provides funding support for the maintenance and
  development of Aboriginal and Torres Strait
  Islander cultures, with emphasis on community
  participation, cultural transmission across age
  groups, new forms of cultural expression and
  cultural exchange.

Maintenance of Indigenous Languages and Records
(MILR)

• provides funding support for the maintenance and
  revival of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
  languages as living systems of knowledge shared
  by communities and passed down from generation to
  generation.

Indigenous Arts and Culture Programs Facts and
figures

• The three programs will provide 21.1 million of
  funding in 2006-07.
• One round in February.
• DCITA delivers its Indigenous programs through a
  network of regional staff based in Indigenous
  Coordination Centres (ICCs) located around the
  country.

• Any incorporated organisation may apply for
  funding in accordance with the program guidelines.
