U.S Army corps and division commanders and staffs
are not properly trained to plan, coordinate and
execute joint fires in support of combat
operations.

Background BCTP WFX A PART OF THE PROBLEM /
POTENTIAL SOLUTION
The premier Division and higher training team
(BCTP) warfighter exercises did not provide the
the complete ability to properly train joint
fires planning, coordination and execution ..

• Air support Request/tracking/feedback process not
  doctrinally sound
• Inadequate support to allow ALOs/ASOCs to train
  and integrate
• Did not support ABCS or TBMCS use
• Did not play airspace to appropriate fidelity
• Did not produce AOC products that should be
  available to Corps/Div
• Fidelity of air play was poor
• ISR limits
• Air power Effects
• No Air COP

We did NOT train as we planned to fight!

Commanders Intent

• To address seams and challenges identified in
  recent operations (OEF/OIF) to enhance Army/Air
  Force exercises in order to improve the ability
  to integrate joint effects in support of the
  Joint Force Commander

• Task 1 Facilitate reciprocal General Officer
  and Senior Observer/Senior Mentor participation
  in multi-service exercises
• Purpose Prepare GOs to assume JFACC/JFLCC
  positions share cross-service joint fires
  insight and expertise with the exercise training
  audience
