Anticipated Project Outcomes Preliminary Results

  • A functioning Youth HealthBuilders group with at
    least 20 members
  • Increased knowledge and understanding of type 2
    diabetes
  • A substantial percentage of the group (at least
    50 percent) will have manifested some level of
    behavior changes that will contribute to the
    reduced risk of experiencing diabetes
  • 30 Youth registered and an average of 25
    youth/session
  • Demonstrate Advocacy Skills as it relates to Type
    2 Diabetes
  • Produced a Public Service Video sponsored by
    Comcast for the upcoming Youth Summit
  • Educating families from their respective churches
    on healthy eating
  • Potential Black Entertainment Television (BET)
    sponsorship for next year

  • A successful Youth HealthBuilders Summit (in
    process)
  • A culminating celebration that the core youth
    group has played a significant role
  • Attended by at least 50 individuals
  • Increase the knowledge of others
  • Provide advocacy support for the Summit
  • A final report details the project outcomes,
    lessons learned, documents the roles of the
    partners, recommendations for project expansion
