Purpose
  • To protect the health and safety of the public
    and firefighting personnel against fire and
    fire-related hazards, and to provide assistance
    for fire prevention programs.

    organizations, FEMA/USFA
  • Limited funding for FY 2001 to 6 of 14 possible
    categories

  • Applications accepted April 1-May 2, 2001
  • 11,000 calls and 8,615 emails
  • 18,915 fire departments applied
  • 31,295 grant requests totaling 3 billion
