- Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a
great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off
everything that hinders and the sin that so
easily entangles, and let us run with
perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us

- Is institutional in nature
- Not specific to program or specific area
- Is appropriate for institution
- Should be realistic given institutions resources
- Has the ability to have a tremendous impact on
the institution

- Must engage all campus constituencies
- In determining the area of focus
- In living out the plan
- Should derive from empirical data
- Both internal and external
- Reflects best practices in higher education and
student learning - Will have specific goals that lead to observable
results in student learning

- Part of SACS re-affirmation process
- Opportunity to concentrate on one topic for a
long period of time (could be 10 years!) - Dedicate resources to one area of improvement
- Demonstrate commitment to student learning
- Impact all areas of campus life
