OBJECTIVE

• The Ph.D. program at Carlos III trains academics
  to perform research in a number of active fields.
   The program also provides students the tools
  needed to excel in public and private work that
  requires advanced knowledge of economic theory
  and techniques.

THE PH.D. PROGRAM

• 1st Year 60 ECTS in three terms
• 12 core courses of 5 ECTS each.
• 2nd Year 60 ECTS in three terms
• Students declare two fields of specialization
  from the departments four options
  (Microeconomics, Macroeconomics,
  Econometrics/Applied Economics and Industrial
  Organization)
• 1 six-ECTS course from each chosen field in the
  first and second terms 24 ECTS.
• A masters thesis 12 ECTS.
• The remaining 24 ECTS are fulfilled with elective
  courses spread over the three terms.
• 3rd through 5th Years Full time research toward
  doctoral dissertation.
