Ingredients
  • 225g / 8oz self raising flour
  • 40g / 1½oz margarine
  • 125ml / ¼ pint milk
  • For fruit scones add 50g/2oz dried fruit (eg
    Sultanas/cherries)
  • 25g/1oz sugar
  • For cheese scones add 75g/3oz grated cheese

  • 1. Light oven Gas 7 / 220C
  • 2. Grease baking tray

3.Put flour marg in bowl and rub in using your
fingertips.
Until it looks like breadcrumbs

3. Add your dried fruit sugar or cheese and
stir into the mixture.

  • 4.Pour the milk in gradually
  • mix to a soft but sticky dough.

5. Knead LIGHTLY then press out. The dough MUST
be at least 1.5 cm thick.

  • 6. Cut into rounds, place onto tray.
  • 7. Brush with a little milk then
  • bake for 12-15 mins until golden brown.

Cool on a wire tray
