Title: Bible Oughts
1Bible Oughts
2We Ought To Obey God
- Acts 5.29 Then Peter and the other apostles
answered and said, We ought to obey God rather
than men. - This is a good attitude that needs to be
cultivated among Gods people today
3We Ought To Obey God
- God must be obeyed
- Romans 6.17-18 But God be thanked, that ye were
the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the
heart that form of doctrine which was delivered
you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the
servants of righteousness.
4We Ought To Obey God
- God must be obeyed
- 1 John 5.2-3 By this we know that we love the
children of God, when we love God, and keep his
commandments. For this is the love of God, that
we keep his commandments and his command-ments
are not grievous.
5We Ought Always To Pray
- Luke 18.1 And he spoke a parable unto them to
this end, that men ought always to pray, and not
to lose heart - Romans 8.26 We know not what we should pray
for as we ought
6We Ought Always To Pray
- 1 Thess. 5.17 Pray without ceasing
- Ephesians 6.18 Praying always with all prayer
and supplication in the Spirit - Prayer should be a regular part of our everyday
lives
7Men Ought To Love Their Wives
- Ephesians 5.28-30 So ought men to love their
wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife
loves himself. For no man ever yet hated his own
flesh but nourishes and cherishes it, even as
the Lord the church For we are members of his
body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
8Men Ought To Love Their Wives
- Ephesians 5.25 Husbands, love your wives, even
as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself
for it - This love is the disposition of the heart that
seeks her very best.
9Men Ought To Love Their Wives
- 1 Corinthians 13.4-8 Love is patient and kind
love does not envy or boast it is not arrogant
or rude. It does not insist on its own way it
is not irritable or resentful it does not
rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the
truth. Love bears all things, believes all
things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never ends.
10We Ought To Give The More Earnest Heed
- Hebrews 2.1 Therefore we ought to give the more
earnest heed to the things which we have heard,
lest at any time we should let them slip. - We need to study and pay strict attention to
Gods Word!
11We Ought To Give The More Earnest Heed
- Bible emphasizes hearing and doing
- Romans 2.13 For not the hearers of the law are
just before God, but the doers of the law shall
be justified.
12We Ought To Give The More Earnest Heed
- Bible emphasizes hearing and doing
- James 1.22-25 But be ye doers of the word, and
not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For
if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer,
he is like unto a man beholding his natural face
in a glass For he beholds himself, and
13We Ought To Give The More Earnest Heed
- Bible emphasizes hearing and doing
- James 1.22-25 goes his way, and straightway
forgets what manner of man he was. But whoso
looks into the perfect law of liberty, and
continues therein, he being not a forgetful
hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be
blessed in his deed.
14We Ought To Give The More Earnest Heed
- Acts 20.32 And now, brethren, I commend you to
God, and to the word of his grace, which is able
to build you up, and to give you an inheritance
among all them which are sanctified.
15We Ought To Love One Another
- 1 John 4.11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we
ought also to love one another.
16We Ought To Love One Another
- God loved us enough to send His Son!
- 1 John 4.9-10 In this was manifested the love
of God toward us, because that God sent his only
begotten Son into the world, that we might live
through him. Herein is love, not that we loved
God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be
the propitiation for our sins.
17We Ought To Love One Another
- Loving God requires loving your brother
- 1 John 4.20-21 If a man says, I love God, and
hates his brother, he is a liar for he that
loves not his brother whom he has seen, how can
he love God whom he has not seen? And this
commandment have we from him, That he who loves
God love his brother also.
18We Ought To Love One Another
- Love with a pure heart fervently
- 1 Peter 1.22 Seeing you have purified your
souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit
unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that you
love one another with a pure heart fervently
19Have you done what you ought?
- Those who do as they ought, ought to understand
their responsibility to obey. - Peter told Cornelius what he ought to do He
lodges with one Simon, a tanner, whose house is
by the sea side he shall tell you what you ought
to do. Acts 10.6
20Have you done what you ought?
- Cornelius and his household heard the Word,
believed it, and obeyed through baptism (Acts
10.44-48) - Wont you come right now and do that which you
