- Kenya is one of the four African countries
currently implementing the Millennium Project - United Nations initiative undertaken to support
member countries in assessing their investment
requirements for- - Promotion of equity,
- Reduction of poverty levels,
- Thus the achievement of the MDGs.
- Kisumu declared Millennium city in January, 2006

- Implementation of MDGs in Kenya gained momentum
in September 2002 - Ministry of Planning and National Development
mandated to coordinate the process - The ministry coordinates the process in
collaboration with UNDP Kenya and the Government
of Finland, through a project titled
Mainstreaming MDGs in Kenyas Development

- The 2007 MDGs Status Report launched recently
through the project - Report indicates Kenya is performing well in
goals of education and health - Achievement of other goals in
- the MDGs are addressed within the governments
long term development blueprint, the vision 2030.
