Multimedia objects in presentations

• Pictures and other objects such as sound and
  video can be incorporated in a slide through the
  Insert menu.
• Inserting clip art has already been described
  earlier in Using Clip Art and Text Boxes in
  connection with using a slide template.
• Instead of double clicking the clip art frame,
  you select Insert gt Picture gt Clip Art as
  illustrated below.

• The process of inserting a photograph is the same
  as for a clip art image, through the Microsoft
  Clip Art Gallery.

• If you have an image saved in a standard format
  such as gif, jpg or bmp, you can select the From
  File.. option to insert it into your slide.
• To insert video clips (Movies) and sound samples
  you choose the Insert gt Movies and Sounds option.

Adding new slides to a presentation

• Add a new slide to your Holiday World 1.ppt
  presentation, in it add some text and a clip art
  image.
• 1. Add a new, blank slide to the presentation.
  Use the Text and Clip Art layout.
• 2. Add the title Winter Holidays in blue using
  the Arial font size 44.
• 3. Add an appropriate clip art image to the
  slide.
• 4. Add a bullet point Skiing in blue using
  Arial font size 36.

• 4. Create another similar slide, for beach
  holidays, with a red title and containing an
  appropriate image and bullet Sunbathing.
• 5. Create a final slide for Adventure Holidays
  choosing your own image, title, colour and bullet
  point.
• 6. Save the presentation as Holiday World
  2.ppt.
• 7. View the Slide Show.

Linking slides using Hyperlinks

• A hyperlink allows a user to click a particular
  part of a slide to go to another slide, not
  necessarily the next one in the sequence.  
• This facility, used extensively in web sites,
  allows you to provide the user of the
  presentation with the option of jumping directly
  to a particular slide without having to trawl
  through all of the preceding slides.

Use a Hyperlink to link two slides

• 1. Select the text that is to be the hyperlink.
• For example, use the mouse to highlight the
• bulleted text
• Beach Holidays as illustrated

• 2. Click on the Insert Hyperlink button on the
  toolbar

• 4. Select a slide
• form the list of
• slides displayed.

Linking presentation slides

• Practise using hyperlinks to link slides using
  Holiday World 2.ppt.
• 1. Create hyperlinks to link each of the bullet
  points on the first slide to the relevant slide.
• i.e. link Winter Holidays with slide 2,
• Beach Holidays with slide 3 and
• Adventure Holidays with slide 4.
• 2. Save the presentation as Holiday World
  3.ppt.

• 3. View the Slide Show and check that the links
  work by clicking on each one.
• 4. In each slide add hyperlinked text Home that
  takes the user immediately back to the first
  slide.
• You will need to create a Text Box, enter the
  text Home and make it a hyperlink on each
  slide.
• 5. Save the presentation as
• Holiday World 3.ppt.
