Description of Document OWL on the Ontology
UniBo in RDF/OWL Raffinamento Schema Metadati
2
In making one structure OWL on the University
dominion we have thought not to leave from zero
but of to use an outline very defined and
worked. Between several documents OWL our
choice is fallen back on the Ontology of
Stanford.
3
We have chosen the Ontology of Stanford since us
it seemed that one that it approached our
requirements more and moreover great definition
had one of Classes regarding the Teacher.
4
Before constructing to a Ontology all ours we
have tried to construct one outline UML on
document OWL of Stanford, therefore that we
could to understand still better as it was
structured.
5
In order to make an outline UML we have before
used the program ARGO. This has turned out to
be much difficult one because the Ontologies of
Stanford had many associations between the
several Classes complicating therefore the
realization of the aforesaid Classes.
6
Therefore it has been believed to try an
ulterior program that it executed one outline
UML in way automatic rifle, that is giving in
Input a document OWL outline UML would have
given like Output one.
7
After several searches it has been found a
program, called Protège, that it carried
out our requirements.
8
  • Language OWL includes 3 sublanguage
  • OWL Lite
  • OWL DL
  • OWL Full

9
We have chosen OWL DL since supports those
customers whom they want the maximum
expressiveness while they conserve
computational completeness and decidability .
10
But also because OWL DL includes all the
constructs of language OWL, but they can be
only use you under sure restrictions.
11
A document OWL can be constituted or from a
single document or from multiple documents.
12
In our case we have a single document having the
tree shape, containing therefore a ROOT and
of the CHILDREN.
13
In our diagram, ROOT (Main Class) is
OBJECT.
14
We have chosen Object because us it seemed
just to leave from a ontology working like it
is Stanford.
15
  • The subclasses of Object are
  • Document It as an example regards documents
like books, newspapers but also email, newsgroup
    etc.
  • Event It regards the events that are carried
out near the athenaeum, like as an example the
    lessons and the seminaries.
  • Location, Describes where the places of several
    the athenaeums are found just.
  • Organization It describes which faculties,
bachelor, etc are found in the athenaeum.

16
  • Person It indicates all the persons that they
study and they work in the athenaeum.
  • Project It describes the plans that have been
carried out and that they are being carried out
    for the athenaeum.

The Document Class serves to indicate all the
documents that have been made in this case we
do not only indicate that it publishes but also
those private ones to you like to example an
email, etc. For this reason Publication has
been introduced like subclasses of Document,
and not like subclasses of Object, as instead
it had made Stanford.
19
We have inserted the Document Class like "father"

one Class that it entered too much in the
particular and therefore it did not succeed to
include all our requirements.
