  • Dear Sue
  • Further to discussions that have been taking
place during our consultation meetings on the
implementation of the Framework Agreement, I am
writing to formally confirm UNISONs stated
    position on back pay.
  • As you are aware, the joint trade unions have
raised the issue of paying back pay to those
staff who have been identified as green circled
    under the evaluations.
  • The need to do this arises from individuals
rights to receive up to 6 years back pay
following an upgrade (subject to individual
    circumstances).
  • UNISON therefore request the University to make
arrangements to pay back pay to those individuals
affected as part of the collective agreement on
    implementation.
  • Correspondingly, you will be aware that the joint
unions as part of their consultation will be
informing members of their rights under the Equal
    Pay act.
  • In addition, I am very much aware that we are now
past the 1st August implementation date and would
reiterate our commitment o reaching a robust
collective agreement as quickly as possible.
  • Please do not hesitate to contact me should you
    wish to discuss this further.
  • Yours sincerely
  • Lisa Youlton
