- Lord Jesus holds out a wonderful hope to escape
our destiny - the Resurrection - Jesus will return and.
transform our lowly bodies so that they will be
like his glorious body. (Philippians 3v21)

- This is gift of God to those who will accept

- The acts of the sinful nature are obvious sexual
immorality, impurity and debauchery - idolatry and witchcraft hatred, discord,
jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition,
dissensions, factions - and envy drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I
warn you, as I did before, that those who live
like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

- Every single human being (except Christ) is a
sinner - Romans 8v3
- for all have sinned and fall short of the glory

- Disobedience to Gods law
- Doing our own will instead of Gods will
Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law
for sin is the transgression of the law. (1 John

- Jeremiah
- The heart is deceitful above all things and
desperately wicked who can know it? - Jeremiah 17v 9

- all these evils come from inside and make a man
unclean - Mark 7v20

- James
- but each one is tempted when, by his own evil
desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then
after desire has conceived, it gives birth to
sin and sin, when it is full grown gives birth
to death (James 1v14)
38What is the Devil?
- Devil means false accuser or slanderer
- It is a concept of sin described as a
person.Personification - Fighting is more focused if it is against a
personified enemy

- Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers
Greek 'diabolos', sober, faithful in all
things. (1 Timothy 3v11) - This know also, that in the last days perilous
times shall come. For men shall be lovers of
their own selves, ... unholy, ... false

40What do we fight against?

- But I see another law at work in the members of
my body, waging war against the law of my mind
and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at

41What causes us to die?

46What must we do?
- We must fight the devil or sin and beat it
- Romans 7v18-23
- Jesus fought it and killed the devil!
- Since the children have flesh and blood, he too
shared in their humanity so that by his death he
might destroy him who holds the power of death-
that is, the devil (Hebrews 2v14)
47What about Satan?
- Hebrew word meaning adversary
- Satan can be good or bad (Numbers 22v22)
- 1 Chronicles 21v1 cp 2 Samuel 24v1
Satan rose up against Israel and incited David to
take a census of Israel. (1 Chronicles 21v1)
Again the anger of the LORD burned against
Israel, and he incited David against them,
saying, Go and take a census of Israel and
Judah. (2 Samuel 24v1)

- Sin is when we are enticed by our evil desires
- This corrupt human nature is personified in the
Bible as the devil - It must be destroyed because it prevents us from
participating in the master plan - Jesus has destroyed the devil and we can share in
his divine nature
