ICT INFORMATION EVENING

HARDWARE YOUR CHILDREN USE

• 22 Stand-alone machines
• 8 Lap-tops with wireless capabilities
• All networked via a server a web-cache
  server
• Each child from Year 2 has their own USERNAME
  PASSWORD separate space on our network
• Each classrooms computer ( ICT Suite) is
  linked to an Interactive Board, Digital
  Microscope and a Visualiser
• Each classroom has their own digital camera
• All the computers are linked to a printer (the
  children have print credits!)
• Each childs working space is limited to get
  them use to file management
• The school will soon have two camcorders
• The children can use high-tech sensing equipment
  linked to the computers

SOFTWARE YOUR CHILDREN USE

• All the children have access to e-mail Year 4,
  5 6 have Year group e-mail
• The children use various software titles which
  are grouped into curriculum areas. Different
  screens available (Year R 3) , (Year 4 -6)
• The school has an intranet system where adults
  can create resources for the children in
  topic/subject areas including demonstrations,
  worksheets, activities or safe web-links!

• Children adults have access to a VLE (Virtual
  Learning Environment) called Espresso
• Very soon the children will be able to access a
  Learning Platform from home via the Internet
  Swgfl
• Children have access to a variety of essential
  programs that are used in the everyday world e.g.
  Word, Powerpoint etc.
• At the top end of the school children can choose
  when to use ICT and which programs would best
  suit the task
• All adults have regular ICT training to keep us
  olduns up to speed!

INTERACTIVE TEACHING METHODS

• ICT only AIDS the curriculum children learn in
  different ways
• Adults teach children to decide when, where
  how ICT would be appropriate
• A variety of programs are used matching the age
  ability of the children
• E.g. Maths Toolbox, Starspell, Talking First
  Word many more!
• Using the Internet safely is a key way of
  supporting teaching learning. In a variety of
  subjects
• SMARTBOARD PROMETHEAN
• Other ICT is all around us mobile phones, TV
  remotes, cash machines etc.
