3Objectives Methodology
- Objective To know how employers rate Lingnan
graduates and how the University can better equip
students to meet employment requirements - 162 respondents who are responsible for hiring or
supervising a full time Lingnan graduate - Completed questionnaires were collected by post,
fax and telephone interview - Survey conducted by independent consultancy
company
4Major Findings (1)
- More than 86 find Lingnan graduates on a par
with or superior than other local university
graduates, of which 34 find Lingnan graduates
superior and far more superior - 74 are satisfied and very satisfied with the
overall performance of Lingnan graduates - 71 employers agree with Lingnan Universitys
liberal arts mission - 59 respondents have good and excellent
impression of Lingnan University
5Major Findings (2)
- The most important skills/ competencies (mean
score gt4.5) as ranked by employers - Work hard
- Committed to work
- Willing to take up responsibilities and be
accountable for results - Cooperative and flexible
- ( Based on a 5-point scale where 5 Very
Important and 1 Not Important) - These are among the top 5 skills/ competencies
Lingnan graduates perform best in the eyes of the
employers, suggesting a good match of expectation
and performance
