Text A Wealth, Success or Love?

• Stories are important to people, politics,
  and education. Stories are how people make sense
  of themselves and their worlds. In young
  children's spontaneous stories that they act out
  as they play, we can see how they believe people
  relate to one another, who they hope to become,
  and how they will behave.

• We can see adolescents play roles in their own
  and other people's stories in order to figure out
  where they fit into their ever-expanding worlds.
  As adults, the true and imaginary stories we wish
  to tell and believe suggest what we value most in
  this world. In a real sense, stories make people.

• A good story gives order to human experience.
• A good story explores cultural values.
• A good story demands an emotional response from
  the reader.
• Like a great journey, a good story can show you
  things you have never seen before and will never
  forget

• Creating buzz is similar in some ways to good
  storytelling. You build suspense by withholding
  information and releasing it gradually. You
  deliver the punch line at the right point in the
  story. You create characters that grab the
  audience's imagination. In this chapter I look at
  the elements that help buzz reproduce itself
  rapidly in the invisible networks, similar to the
  way an urban legend or a folk story can. It isn't
  a coincidence that the techniques described in
  this chapter are being used extensively in the
  film industrysneak previews, taking the audience
  behind the scenes, creating publicity stunts, and
  using celebrities to announce or advertise a
  product. Whatever your feelings about Hollywood,
  the people there know how to tell a story, and
  they know buzz.
