Launch in 2007/2008
2
WIN-CUBE
  • A unique science and technology project and a
    first for Winnipeg and Manitoba
  • A fully operational satellite built and operated
    by students in Winnipeg
  • Launched with a modified Russian Intercontinental
    Ballistic Missile
  • Operated within the International Amateur Radio
    Union framework
  • A project based on local, national, and
    international collaboration

3
WIN-CUBE
  • WIN-CUBE will be based on the CubeSat
    specification developed by California Polytechnic
State University - San Luis Obispo and Stanford
    University's Space Systems Development Lab

CubeSat
  • A CubeSat is a 10 x 10 x 10 cm cube with a mass
    of up to 1 kg
  • Fully functional pico-satellite

5
Goals Objectives
  • Have project based learning experiences for
students to enhance the quality and level of
    their educational training
  • Promote international university high school
collaboration to expand and enhance space
    research
  • Provide students with a low cost method of
    building, launching and operating small
    satellites in space
  • Provide challenging space applications that
    require international cooperation
