What is Reuse-A-Shoe?
  • Nike's Reuse-A-Shoe program collects old,
    worn-out athletic shoes and transforms them into
    athletic surfaces, sports equipment and
    playground surfaces.

How did the Nike Reuse-A-Shoe program begin?
  • Nearly two decades ago, Nike began looking for a
    way to reduce the company's environmental
    footprint and reduce the amount of shoes that
    ended up in landfills.
  • Nike began collecting old shoes and grinding
    them into useful materials.

What is Nike Grind?
  • Nike Grind includes three types of raw materials
    made from recycled athletic shoes
  • -rubber from the outsole
  • -foam from the mid-sole
  • -fabric from the upper shoe.
  • These materials are ground up and used to make
    sport and playground surfaces, as well as in
    numerous Nike apparel, footwear and equipment
    products.

What kinds of shoes can you recycle?
  • Only athletic shoes can be recycled using the
    Grind process.
  • No sandals, dress shoes, boots and other types of
    shoes.
  • No shoes containing metal or spikes

    acquire athletic equipment, materials and
    facilities.

    all kids are offered the opportunity to play
