Isdefes Transport Systems Division has been
carrying out its activity within the area of Air
Transport Engineering for more than 15 years,
with a special mission in the evolution and the
innovation of the aeronautical sector. This
interest is part of the Companys strategy to
offer their our customers quality service in
order to achieve the objectives of the future Air
Transport System. Isdefe,S.A. aims its
activity towards a continuous offer of innovation
and added value in our services, as the best
guarantee of quality and efficiency within a
competitive, highly-specialized market. In order
to achieve this aim, Isdefe contributes Independ
ence, since we are wholly owned by the
Government, this makes possible an activity
independent from commercial interests,
guaranteeing the impartiality of solutions and
the absolute confidentiality of the managed
information. The permanent attention to the
demands of our customers requires us to
continuously improve our functional processes.
This activity has been recognized in Isdefes
UNE-EN ISO 9001 Quality Certification. Isdefe
has a firm commitment to training and updating
the knowledge of our staff through training plans
and attendance at events related with our service
performance activities. We encourage
collaboration with most recognized companies and
agents related with the aeronautical sector, at
both National and European levels. This allows
us to obtain synergies, exchange the knowledge
and know-how, that provides a mutual enrichment
and an added value to the service. The
Divisions internal RD policy consists of
self-financing. This provides benefits that
improve the quality of the service Isdefe can
provide in innovative projects for
customers. Isdefes Transport Systems
Division of provides technical assistance to the
public agencies responsible in Spain for the air
transport policy, the Directorate General of
Civil Aviation (DGAC), and the provision of
airport and air navigation services (Aena). For
over 10 years Isdefe has diversified its
activities towards other agencies and
supranational organizations, providing services
to political institutions, such as the EU, and
service providers such as EUROCONTROL.

• Isdefes of Transport Systems Division
  contributes its knowledge to the evolution of the
  Communications, Navigation and Surveillance
  networks and infrastructure through
• Support to the updating programmes for the
  aeronautical mobile communications
  infrastructures, and to the design and
  implementation of data networks.
• Design and adaptation of the navigation aids
  networks.
• Optimization of the surveillance function,
  through plans and specifications for primary
  (PSR) and secondary (SSR) radars Mode-S and
  automated dependent surveillance function (ADS).
• ATM
• In parallel with the drive towards system
  rationalization, the ATM concept involves the
  implementation of efficient processes, in
  accordance with the operational harmonization of
  the framework.
• Isdefes of the Transport System Division
  participates in the support of the life cycle
  phases in the Spanish ATC System Automation -
  SACTA programme. Strategic management tools and
  traffic tactic have been developed for Flow
  Management. Regarding Air Space Management,
  analysis have been performed to optimize
  capacity restructure the air space design and
  validate operational procedures. The
  contribution to the Exploitation Management of
  the Air Navigation System, is carried out through
  technical standards design of maintenance
  policies integrated logistic management and
  technical personnel.

The other key link in the ATM system, is
airports as components that strongly condition
the overall capacity of the system. The
operational initiatives and technical innovation
are aimed at the improvement of their functional
performance. Isdefes Transport Systems Division
contributes its experience within the following
areas Airport Operation Integrated systems
for resource management and assignment low
visibility operations noise abatement
procedures. Surface Movement Control (A-SMGCS).
Airfield design and aeronautical Infrastructures.
Multi-airport Systems, Needs Analysis,
functional adaptation, evolutionary
tendencies. The increased congestion in the
airspace has made it necessary for supranational
air transport authorities to adopt new strategies
and initiatives. These should be capable of
defining common rules for all the Air Transport
System members. The new
powers of the administrative organizations for
air transport policy, involve a progressive
revision of the responsibilities of its
management. Isdefes Transport Systems Division
supports the Spanish DGAC in the enormous task of
updating and innovating the guidelines and the
standard framework for service performance the
monitoring of the air navigation system the
implementation of new operational concepts

International Programmes
Isdefes Transport Systems Division, aware of the
importance of the participation in decision
forums about design and implementation of the
future ATM system, has decided to actively
participate through multinational consortiums.
Therefore, Isdefe has consolidated its position
among the leading companies in RD projects in
European ATM. Isdefe has actively participated
in the 3º, 4º and 5º Framework Programmes of
Innovation and Technological Development of the
European Commission. This participation has
focused on the development areas of the
operational concept, specification and design of
the ATM system, as well as in the definition of
the validation and execution processes. Also,
Isdefe participates, either on its own behalf or
at the request of its customers, in the different
implementation phases of the EUROCONTROL EATMP
programme, as well as in the definition and
design phases of the systems for the European
GNSS, EGNOS and GALILEO programmes.
