Industrial Parts Specialties is a 29 year old
company that has been servicing the industries in
the region supplying quality alternate source
machined parts, thermal sprayed hard coatings and
complete machinery rebuilds during this time. The
company re-located operations to its new facility
in Port Allen, Louisiana in early 2001. The
original owner sold the company to the Hackney
Group located in Birmingham, Alabama in 1994. In
mid-2005 IPS once again became a Louisiana owned
business.

Our new facility is located on a six acre site
and has a total area under roof of around 58,000
square feet. The primary shop is divided into
three main bays totaling 42,500 sq. ft. while
another 7,500 sq. ft. are attached adjacent to
the back of the shop. These additional areas
house our thermal spray shop, steam cleaning,
sandblasting and work in process storage. The
remaining 8,000 sq. ft. houses the companies
offices.
The current total workforce is 53 people of which
38 are hourly craftsmen, 12 are salaried staff
and 3 are sales.

Bay 1
Bay 1 is or primary production machining area.
It is serviced by two 5 ton overhead cranes and
has 7 engine lathes, 4 CNC lathes and 3 manual
milling machines.
This area is also where raw materials are stored
and sawed for use, finished parts are inventoried
and quality control inspection is performed on
work in process and finished parts.

Bay 2
Bay 2 is used for large machines and our two CNC
Vertical Machining Centers. These Machining
Centers allow for accurate, fast machining that
require milling operations. Large boring
operations can be performed by one of our two
horizontal Boring Mills, with the largest using
a 5 bar, or one of our three Vertical Mills with
the largest being a 120 table with 101 under
rail.
Bay 2 is used as a disassembly area for very
large rotating equipment. It houses our 8 ft.
square by 20 ft. deep vertical pump assembly pit,
our 40,000 Lb. Rotor run-out test stand, and our
53 swing by 33 ft. lathe. This bay is serviced
by a 10 ton and 20 ton crane.

Bay 3
Bay 3 is used for Rotating Equipment repairs. It
is used to disassemble, clean, evaluate,
manufacture parts, Balance rotors or parts, and
re-assembly.
This area has nine manual lathes, four milling
machines, IRD Balancing Machine, three
cylindrical grinders, and numerous related
presses and pulling devices. This bay is serviced
by a 5 ton and a 10 ton overhead crane.

Vertical Turbine Pump Capabilities

• Vertical Turbine Pumps of varying sizes are
  routinely handled in our facility.
• An 8 foot square by 20 foot deep assembly pit
  is in Bay 2 that has single crane lifting
  capacity over it of 20 tons with a 22 feet under
  the hook.

• This allows vertical pumps to be built vertically
  to ensure more accurate alignment of components
  and less chance of bending a shaft during
  assembly.
