First steps

• We selected 9 children from 3 ability levels
• We used their baseline scores taken from the end
  of reception to assess their starting point.
• All children and staff involved answered
  questions about writing

• Samples of work were collected in the Autumn,
  Spring and Summer terms.
• End of term writing assessments.

• The children in the focus group have all made
  some progress against their baseline score.
• Some have made good progress.

Next steps

• We could choose to do one of these
• Extend all strategies across key stage one
  classes and continue to monitor focus group.
• Focus upon a group of low achievers.
• Focus upon boys.
• Focus upon able children.
