- Establish Mississippi Valley State University as
a Nationally Recognized Automatic Identification
Technology Center of Excellence

- Provide a state-of-the-art teaching and learning
experience that will result in increased
opportunities for AIT research and application. - Through strategic partnerships among government,
industry, and academia, the AIT Technology Center
of Excellence will effectively promote and
achieve superior economic development in the
Delta region.

Mississippi Valley State University and industry
partners to provide collaborative research,
development, and demonstration opportunities in
AIT technology - Develop an AIT Science Education Program to
support student internships/co-ops and faculty
research fellowships

technology career field and maximize the future
potential for entrepreneurship
- Apply AIT technology at Mississippi Valley State
to address university-wide infrastructure needs - Evaluate the potential for Mississippi Valley
State University to serve as an incubator for new
minority businesses in AIT technologies - Develop and implement a strategy that will
support increased interest by Mississippi Valley
State University students and pre-college
minority students to pursue an AIT technology
career path - Influence the retention and graduation rate of
Mississippi Valley State University students in
the AIT technology career field
10Demonstrate MVSUs capability of supporting key
AIT-industry emerging technology development and
deployment
- Directly participate in key standards committees
dealing with state of the art AIT initiative
development - Identify initiatives within these committees that
require external, unbiased and scientific
evaluation and/or research to bring closure to
the draft standard development or compliance to
the final standard - Develop MVSU capability to evaluate and conduct
scientific research in the AIT field that
supports new and current standards development - Identify lead students in the AIT concentration
for participation in standards committees - Present results of research at Frontline 2003
conference program - Publish results of research in trade magazines

effectiveness of the AIT technology curriculum
and its continuous improvement
- Establish and charter an AIT Technology Advisory
Council to assess Mississippi Valley State
Universitys progress and recommend strategies
for improvement - Develop a curriculum assessment plan to determine
needed enhancements - Develop an effective communications plan to
promote and grow Mississippi Valley State
Universitys AIT Center of Excellence initiatives

- AIT Industry will have a new source of qualified
professionals for direct insertion into job
assignments - Those whose equipment is used in the program
benefit by having AIT professionals enter
companies with a familiarity and preference for
the equipment and software they were trained on - AIT manufacturers have an unbiased source for
Beta testing or evaluation by AIT professionals
in a scientific environment
