a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education, Spanish

- For the US and Canada
- To obtain qualified teachers of Spanish.
- To foster cultural links between Spain, the U.S.
and Canada. - For Spain
- For Spanish teachers to acquire a more profound
knowledge of American culture. - To improve their teaching skills in a
multicultural context.
17 Visiting Teachers - Selection Process
- Spain runs a yearly national call to recruit
candidates. - Spanish administrators make a first screening of
applicants. - Representatives of the U.S school districts
travel to Madrid and run interviews among the
candidates. - Expenses are paid by the Spanish Ministry of
Education.
18Visiting Teachers - Hiring Process
- The selected Spanish teachers sign contracts
with their school districts. - Orientations are held in Madrid and in the US.
- At the present time there are over 1,200
visiting teachers from Spain in 31 states of the
U.S. Alberta, Canada (07/08). - Perspectives New States/Provinces. Increase no.
of applications. - New recruiting period April 2008
