2 Anatolia Watershed Rehabilitation Project
- The objective of the project is to support
sustainable natural resource management and
poverty reduction in degraded watersheds in the
2 river basins and the Black Sea Coast.
3Project Objectives

- a) improve framework for the overall river basin
planning management, -
- b) Introduce communities to more
environmentally-friendly farming and forestry
production practices to raise and improve
household incomes, - c) encourage local communities to take
responsibility for planning and implementing

practices for reducing nutrient discharge
particularly from agricultural sources to the
Black Sea, - e) strengthen institutional capacity to promote
sustainable natural resource management and to

(Training-MARA MoEF staff and farmers,

- developed the public awareness on the nutrient
pollution and manure management on the project
sites (Community meetings, training programs,
short visit tours, etc.), -

- strengthened the policy and regulatory capacity
towards meeting EU standards (application of the
EU Nitrates Directive and development of a Code
of Good Agricultural Practices).

- to use similar methodology for sampling and
