Institutional Explore India Tour
When Bhupinder Singh, Maharaja of Patiala was
expelled from, he decided to create his own
capital for the warm months. The little village
of Chail was perfect. It lay surrounded by
magnificent deodar forests. Shimla was in direct
vision and most importantly, Chail was somewhat
higher than British controlled Shimla. Today, the
Maharajas creation can be experienced by all.
Here is a resort in the true sense of the word.
The former summer capital of the British in
India, and the present capital of Himachal
Pradesh, Shimla has been blessed with all the
natural bounties which one can think of. It has
got a scenic location, it is surrounded by green
hills with snow capped peaks. The spectacular
cool hills accompanied by the structures made
during the colonial era creates an aura which is
very different from other hill. It is also known
as a Summer Refuge. Maharaja Bhupinder Singh
originally began building his palace at this
site. It is said that a Sidh-saintly person -
appeared before the Maharaja in dream and
declared that this was the place where he had
this temple built. The Chail sanctuary has
'ghoral', 'kakkar', 'sambhar', red jungle fowl
and 'khalij' and 'cheer' pheasants. Machan like
sighting posts have been built at Khuruin. An
enjoyable drive through forests and small
villages leads to this small but popular station.
The Nature Park here is a great attraction. A
short trek leads to the Mahasu Peak with breath
taking views.

of its own, elegant lawns, badminton and lawn
tennis court, billiards and even a children's
park. Each regally appointed room, each quaint
cottage and every warm log hut offers a memorable
holiday. Chail offers good sightseeing places,
fishing and trekking possibilities too. Chail
also has the world's highest cricket pit chand
polo ground. The Chail sanctuary has 'ghoral',

Himachal Pradesh, Shimla has been blessed with
all the natural bounties which one can think of.
It has got a scenic location, it is surrounded by

It is also known as a Summer Refuge. Built in
1846-1857, Christ Church is the second oldest
church of Northern India. The Church overlooks
the ridge and is one of the landmarks of Shimla.
The clocks on Christ Church were added later but
none of them are functional now. Dedicated to
Lord Hanuman, this temple offers a panoramic view
over the surrounding valley, out to the
snowcapped peaks, and over the town itself. Jakhu
