4Bob Willoughby Chet Baker
(commercial purpose)
5- Bob Willoughbys Chet Baker photo shoots are
based on Music and Portraits. The purpose is
commercial, as the pictures would be sold to
magazine companies and advertising companies to
help get his career launched. Willoughby has used
a direct approach with his pictures of Baker,
making sure that he is the focus in the picture
and so all the attention is drawn to him. Baker
looks very deep in thought and/or happy in all of
the photographs. Because of the purpose of the
photos, if an unhappy or negative emotion was
highlighted, it would pass on the negative
emotion to the viewer of the photographs. The
vantage point from which the photographs were
taken is very straight on this draws even more
attention to the main focus of the picture, in
this case being Chet Baker. The pictures have a
fairly symmetrical balance, with the focus being
in the centre of the picture, distributing the
visual elements evenly within the picture. In a
lot of these pictures, the background is blurred
or just of a plain nature. This helps Chet Baker
be the centre of attention on the pictures as him
and his instrument are the sharpest subjects. The
backgrounds of the photographs also tend to be
darker than Baker, and an artificial light is
shined on to him. There are lines in the
background of the photo, and although they are
blurred, they emphasise Bakers stance in the
pictures. Many of the pictures of him are
expressive, as they convey emotion. As Chet Baker
is not looking at the camera it gives a moody
atmospheric look to the pictures.

7Terry Richardson - Portraits
- Cole Mohr
- Cara Delevigne
- Mila Kunis
- Born August 14, 1965 in New York City.

(artistic purpose)
9- Terry Richardsons photo shoots are based on
portraits (quite often of celebrities) for a
commercial purpose and an artistic purpose.
Similar to Willoughby, Richardson uses a fairly
direct approach and simple vantage point to his
pictures as he takes them head on and not from
any peculiar angles. This helps the viewer of the
picture focus on the main subject which in this
instance is Cole Mohr. The background of the
photograph is very plain and not very colourful.
This draws attention to the main focus. I really
like the contrast between the focus and the
background of the picture. It really emphasises
the colour of the tattoos on Cole Mohrs body.
The pictures have a symmetrical balance, with the
focus being in the centre of the picture,
distributing the visual elements evenly within
the picture.

12Glen Luchford - Fashion
- Vogue
- Calvin Klein
- Prada
- Born in Sussex, England, in 1968.
13Glen Luchford - Vogue
(artistic purpose)
14- I love how the model is posed in this photograph.
Her long, uncovered legs adds an intimidating
attraction. The pose also drags attention to the
pair of heels she is wearing, which is one of the
intentions of the photographer as the pictures
were taken for a commercial purpose to sell
clothes and advertise for Vogue. The woman is
also sat in a bathroom quite a normal place and
nothing too fancy or flash. This adds to the
advertising element as it makes the viewer think
that they could potentially look that good if
they bought the items that are advertised. The
woman has a simple hairstyle and simple makeup
and this helps towards the idea that a normal
woman could buy the products. The fact that she
is staring straight into the camera shows a
confidence that women want, and shows that she is
not afraid for people to look at her and the
photograph, even though she isnt wearing very
many clothes. I like the contrast between what
the woman is wearing compared to her skin tone
and the colour of the room she is in. It again
adds to the advertising of the clothes. The
photographer has used a very simple vantage point
and the picture hasnt been taken from any
strange or unusual angles. This helps the viewer
focus in on the main focus of the picture and
more importantly, the products that are for sale.

17Jim Marshall - Music
- Jimi Hendrix
- The Beatles
- Mick Jagger
- Born February 3 in Chicago, Illinois .
- Died March 24, 2010.
18Jim Marshall Jimi Hendrix
19- Jim Marshalls Jimi Hendrix photo shoots are
based on Music and Portraits. The purpose is
commercial, as the pictures would be sold to
magazine companies and advertising companies to
help get his career out there. Marshall has used
a direct approach with his pictures of Hendrix,
making sure that he is the focus in the picture
and so all the attention is drawn to him. In a
lot of these pictures, the background is blurred
or just grey. This helps Jimi Hendrix be the
centre of attention on the pictures as she is the
sharpest subject. The backgrounds of the
photographs also tend to be darker than Hendrix,
and an artificial light is shined on to him.
There are lines in the background of the photo,
and although they are blurred, they emphasise the
shape of Hendrixs body and the guitar, making
him look more sophisticated in the pictures. Many
of the pictures of him are expressive, as they
convey his happy emotion. The vantage point from
which the photographs were taken is very straight
on this draws even more attention to the main
focus of the picture, being Jimi Hendrix. The
pictures have a fairly symmetrical balance, with
the focus being in the centre of the picture,
distributing the visual elements evenly within
the picture.

22Andy Rouse
- Animals
- Wildlife
- Natural landscapes
- Born 15th February 1965 in Cardiff, Wales.
23Andy Rouse - Animals
24- Andy Rouses photo shoots are mainly based on
wildlife, animals and nature. The purpose is
journalistic as it almost documenting wildlife
and nature. The background of the image is
blurred therefore it draws attention to the focus
of the photograph. As the colours of the focus
and the background are similar, the blurring of
the background works effectively. No artificial
light was used as it was in broad daylight. The
vantage point of which the photographs were taken
was very straight on and not from any strange
angles, this directs the viewers eyes straight to
the main focus of the image.
25Neil Leifer - sports
- Boxing
- Football
- portraits
- Born December 28th, 1942 in New York City.
26(No Transcript)
27- Neil Leifers photo shoots are mainly based on
sports and famous sportspeople. The purpose is
journalistic as it is documenting the sporting
event. It is also commercial as pictures would be
sold to newspapers and sporting websites. In this
particular image, Leifer has used rule of thirds
and lighting to emphasise Mohammed Ali in the
boxing ring. The lighting in the background is
very dim and artificial lighting is used to
highlight Ali. This points the main focus onto
Mohammed Ali and makes him look strong and
powerful. The colour of the boxing gloves also
attract your attention towards Mohammed Ali and
show that he is in the middle of a boxing match.
