portals that provides and promotes exchange and
dissemination of information on development
matters. - 52 Gateways world wide, 14 in Africa
- The Gateways target community needs on
activities related to e-development.
- Promote sharing and exchange of information and
knowledge and work towards achieving national
development goals and building a knowledge-based
society
32 East African Development Gateways (Tanzania,
Uganda, Kenya)
- In recognition of the common goals and objectives
of using ICT for sustainable development and
poverty reduction
- East African Gateways and East African Community
representative convened a meeting in June 2004,
Kampala to discuss areas of cooperation and
