1 Introduction

• National Development Gateways are Internet
  portals that provides and promotes exchange and
  dissemination of information on development
  matters.
• 52 Gateways world wide, 14 in Africa
• The Gateways target community needs on
  activities related to e-development.
  
• Promote sharing and exchange of information and
  knowledge and work towards achieving national
  development goals and building a knowledge-based
  society

2 East African Development Gateways (Tanzania,
Uganda, Kenya)

• In recognition of the common goals and objectives
  of using ICT for sustainable development and
  poverty reduction
  
• East African Gateways and East African Community
  representative convened a meeting in June 2004,
  Kampala to discuss areas of cooperation and
  framework of cooperation

• online product catalogues, SMEs showcase

Tanzania Civil Society Database

• Information facilitator for community based
  organizations
  
• Provides a platform for collaboration among NGOs/

• The database provides information on Development

• Accommodates news articles not published in the
  Media Houses. It offers news submission form
  whereby news reporters can upload articles
  online.

• Provides a focal point for Tanzania IK
  experiences on the Internet by facilitating
  creation, sharing and access to local and global
  development knowledge and opportunities.

  bidders participation in Government/public

  transparency via online public procurement.
