    administer the WKCE to their 8th and 10th grade

    Internet-ready computer
  • Is optional - schools can choose to use it or not

  • Is based on ONET's validated assessment, the

To provide students with immediate assessment
results To help students identify occupations
that may be of interest to them To help
students explore possible academic and
educational options

  • More than 31,000 students took the WCA
  • 25 logged in more than once
  • 8 logged in after school hours
  • The average time to complete the WCA was 11
    minutes (entering registration code to receiving
    results)

  • Feedback form
  • US DOE career clusters (8th grade only)
  • Students are allowed to retake the WCA
  • Batch report name, access code, outcome
    interest code, occupations of interest, target US
    DOE career cluster

2004 Districts 166 of 460 School Districts have
activated an account.

WCA 19.4 logged in more than once 7.50

2005-07 Biennial Budget Request-Department of
Public Instruction
  • Requests state tax dollar (GPR) support of
    125,000 per year to support and enhance the
    Wisconsin Career Assessment.

    of Administration
  • January 2005-The Governors Budget
  • January to June 2005-Legislative Committee work
    and public hearings
  • July-Approval by the legislature and final
    changes by the Governor.

How Will Responses be Used?
  • Planning and program development,

  • Professional development,
  • Program improvement and collaboration initiatives
    in Wisconsin.
  • Specific answers will have no impact on 2005-06
    funding decisions, but CPA grant awards will not
    be made until the assessment has been completed
    in full for each district.
