You need a great resume because

• Most recruiters dont have the time or
  patience to search your resume for the required
  qualifications. If you dont make them obvious,
  you may not get an interview.

Approach to Writing a Resume

• Know your product yourself
• Know your customer the employer
• Focus on content and format
• Get as many critiques as you can to refine it
  VERY Subjective
• Proofing techniques
• Spell check and grammar check

Format

• ONE PAGE
• Fonts - 10 - 12 pt. Times New Roman or Serif font
  (helvetica, courier), black color
• Margins no less than .75/more than 1.5
• Whitespace - Balance and alignment
• Bulletize use circular or square bullets or
  hyphens
• References are not necessary on the resume
• Contains dates and locations for education and
  positions (month vs. year)
• Conservative no fancy graphics

Content

• Be concise brief, bulleted sentences
• Use action verbs, key words, and facts/statistics
• Convey a message/focus
• Use key words that are important to the
  position/industry
• Watch your verb tense present vs. past
• Use consistent punctuation
• Spell out acronyms, dont use inappropriate
  technical jargon
• Dont
• Abbreviate
• Use personal pronouns
• Use personal information
• Lie or Exaggerate
