The Beginning Of The War
  • The forth war between Great Britain and France
    for control over North America.
  • George Washington, he started the outpost called
    Fort Necessity that was 40 miles away from the
    French, Fort Duquesne.

The First Two Battles
  • The first battle was May 1754, Washingtons
    militia attacked a small group of French Solders
    who attacked back.
  • The battle in July the French forced Washington
    to surrender.
  • These two battles at Fort Necessity were the
    beginning of the French and Indian War.

William Pitt
  • William Pitt was an energetic, self-confident
    politician.
  • In 1758 Pitt came out of retirement and took over
    the British army.
  • He gave colonist a much greater independence in
    pursuing the war.

The Proclamation Of 1763
  • To avoid other conflicts with Native Americans,
    The British government issued the Proclamation Of
    1763.
  • It banned all settlement west of the
    Appalachians.
  • The colonists were not to cross the Proclamation
    Line.
  • The British could not enforce this ban so
    colonists continued to move west onto Native
    Americans lands.

The Sugar Act
  • The Sugar Act did three things
  • Halved the duty on foreign-made molasses.
  • It placed duties on certain imports.
  • It strengthened the enforcement of the law
    allowing prosecutors to try smuggling cases in a
    vice-admiralty court rather than in more
    sympathetic colonial court.

The Battle Of Fort Beausejour
  • The British was under command of
    Lieutenant-Colonel Robert Monckton.
  • This battle was during June 3 June 16, 1755.
  • It was near Sackville, New Brunswick.
  • The French surrendered and the British won that
    battle.

  • The Commander of the British was James Wolfe.
  • The commander of the French was Louis-Joseph, and
    Marquis de Montcalm.
  • This battle was September 13, 1759 at Quebec
    City.
  • The British won this war decisive.

  • The Native Americans joined in the war because
    they were afraid the British would take over
    there land.

    war that it nearly doubled their debt.

    financial expert to serve as a prime minister in
    1763
