  • Organizational Chart
  • The Worksite Wellness Program is one program
    offered within Pinellas County Schools Be Smart
    Wellness Program. The PCS Be Smart Wellness
    program is coordinated through the Districts
    Employee Wellness Committee.
  • The Districts Staff Wellness Committee is a
    subcommittee of the SHAC (School Health Advisory
    Committee) which operates and complies with
    Statute S.381.0056.
  • Pinellas County Schools highly values the health
    and well-being of every staff member and will
    plan and implement activities and policies that
    support personal efforts by staff to maintain a
    healthy lifestyle. The Staff Wellness Committee
    is composed of district staff members, SHAC
    members, local hospital representatives,
    dietitians, other health professionals, and risk
    management employees. The Committee develops,
    promotes, and oversees a multifaceted plan to
    promote staff health and wellness. The plan is
    based on input solicited from school staff and
    outlines ways to encourage healthy eating,
    physical activity, and other elements of a
    healthy lifestyle among school staff.

  • Worksite Wellness Program Objective
  • This program is designed to support highest
    student achievement by promoting the health and
    well-being of district staff through education,
    behavior modification, guidance and support.
  • Our wellness programs are based on two simple
    assumptions
  • People who are healthy and manage stress
    effectively are more productive, more motivated
    and more satisfiedat home and at work.
  • It costs less money to prevent illness than it
    does to treat it after is has occurred, which in
    turn, can help us to reduce health care costs.
  • Duties of the Wellness Coordinator include
  • Planning and coordinating programs at individual
    locations based upon program priorities and
    parameters, employee interests at each site, and
    financial resources.
  • Meeting with district s wellness committee for
    education, planning, and reporting purposes at
    least three times per year.
  • Promoting, advertising, and encouraging
    participation of district sponsored wellness
    programs and screenings and EAP Program.
  • Promoting completion of Risk Assessments (Simple
    Steps) for employees enrolled in the districts
    health insurance plan.

  •         Wellness Instructional Material/Supplies

  • Refreshments (Not to exceed 50 of your
    total budget and
  • must be used in conjunction with
    educational program)
  •    All purchases and payments must be completed
    by 5/31/07. Funds not spent in this account
    will not rollover to the new year.
  • The programs and incentives offered should be
    available to all Supporting Services personnel,
    PTS, Instructional and Administrative employees.
  • This money will be reflected through an amendment
    to your schools budget in the following account
    strip 0100 7730 0510 CC 9901 6301 on 9/4/06.

Wellness Champion Supplement
  • Supplement Pay will be paid out annually based on
    school size.
  • Only one champion per site will be eligible for
    supplement.
  • Champion positions must be on the
    PTS/instructional salary schedule and be
    nominated by principal or department manager.
    Administrators are not eligible.
  • Champions may earn an additional Bonus of 100
    for attaining 50 or more employees or spouses
    per semester who complete the Simple Steps Health
    Assessment.

  • District Sponsored Wellness Programs
  • During the school year, Risk Management sponsors
    a calendar of Wellness Topics, including
    centrally located screenings and flu shots.
    Please see the enclosed wellness calendar. The
    coordinator can promote, communicate, and
    encourage participation of these programs and
    screenings.

  • Vision Screening Month March 2007

least 1 program highlighting the benefits of
our EAP Program during the school

December 6th May 2nd, 2007.
  • A Progress Report will be due at the Mid-Year
    District Meeting. It will include your
    Project Status and Cost Status. A Final
    Report will be due at the Year-End Wrap Up
    Meeting.

Employee Surveys A template for an Employee
Survey has been provided. However, surveys may
be developed based upon the needs of each
location.
