Coleman Library Mission
  • The library supports the Universitys mission to
    help students prepare for meaningful careers in
    the computer professions. Coleman places its
    students at the center of its efforts, values
    structure and strongly emphasizes academic
    excellence through highly qualified faculty and a
    well-equipped environment.

Introduction
  • The Library offers an array of materials useful
    to the research function for the Coleman
    Community. These materials are available to
    library patrons from both campuses and home
    computers. These materials include electronic
    databases, books and ebooks, magazines, and links
    to Internet or online resources. The services of
    professional librarians from each campus are
    available to the Coleman University Community.
    Online research and retrieval services are
    accessible from the Coleman University library
    website. These database libraries offer a variety
    of reference resources in full-text format.

The San Diego Campus Library
  • Various collection of books are housed and
    shelved according to its assigned Dewey Decimal
    number.
  • Reference materials are located on separate
    shelves assigned as Reference .

Library Location Symbols
  • The location symbols of the San Diego campus
    collection are as follows
  • BioInformatics (BIT) BIT materials collection.
  • CD-ROM (CD) Books published with CD-ROM(s) are
    usually kept inside the book and must be checked
    out with the book.
  • Masters Library (GRR) - A separate room is
    designated as the Graduate Reading Room (GRR)
    books for the Masters program.

More Library Location Symbols
  • North County library (NC) houses a separate
    library material collection supporting the North
    County curricula.
  • Periodicals/Journals (PER) are alphabetically
    arranged by title.
  • Reference (REF) houses reference materials.
  • Resource Center (RC) - houses the required CORE,
    Associates, and in-house Masters instructional
    materials, such as textbooks, videos, syllabi,
    student and instructor guides, and/or class
    printouts

Librarian Hours
  • The San Diego campus librarian is on duty Monday
    through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Student library assistants are available to
    assist students and faculty in the librarians
    absence.

Library Orientation Guide
  • A Library Orientation Guide is issued to
    students, faculty, and staff as needed.
  • Some classes include trips to the library for an
    orientation with the librarian.

Circulation/Borrowing Books
  • Check out a book for two weeks by printing your
    name and student ID number on the card in the
    book pocket.
  • Reference books, such as encyclopedias,
    dictionaries, etc. are to be used only within the
    library premises.
  • You may reserve a book if currently checked out
    by another patron

More On Circulation
  • Should you need more time, you may renew if no
    one else is waiting or has reserved the book you
    borrowed
  • There is a 25 cents per day charge for late
    returns or overdue books

Library Printing
  • The library provides free printing of your search
    results for your bibliography.
  • If you are downloading articles, floppy disks are
    available at the Resource Center counter.
  • Copiers are also available at the Resource
    Center.
