• No section means more to resume writers and less
  to recruiters
• The standard for inclusion is this How
  comfortable would you be discussing this
  information at an interview?

• In the skills section you will
• List specific lab, computer, and foreign language
  skills you possess
• List as many computer programs and foreign
  languages that you know

• In the interests section you will
• You will include things that convey something
  about your personality
• Be selective about the interests that you list
• Avoid any that you feel might side-track an
  interview

References

• In the conventional modern form of a US business
  resume, there is no standard ending phrase
• It is assumed that a resume will be one page
• You should arrange to have three or four people
  who will give you a reference

Format for a Functional Resume

• Recommended for people who have been out of the
  workforce for a long time or people who have had
  many different jobs
• Begins with the same Identification section
• Most experts who prefer this form encourage the
  use of an Objective section

Cover Letters

• Some recruiters believe they are more revealing
  than resumes themselves
• Some feel they are useful at the margin-to
  choose between two similar candidates
• In the first section, Identify who you are, your
  place in the universe, and the EXACT job that you
  are applying for

• In the final section, include information about
  how you can be reached, especially if your resume
  has two addresses
