  • People working in this field provide health care
    and support services to address the physical,
    mental and emotional needs of their clients.
  • They apply scientific, technical, social and
    interpersonal skills to diagnose and treat
    illnesses, document care, provide a therapeutic
    environment and maintain the health of their
    clients.

  • Although this line of work probably interests you
    because of its humanitarian and service aspects,
    the industry as a whole- hospitals, nursing
    homes, clinics, etc.- is all business.
  • The United States spends more than a trillion
    dollars per year on health care.

    soaring prescription drug prices, the increase in
    the number of uninsured Americans, and rising
    salaries drive the cost of health care services
    higher each year.
  • Consolidation of health insurers- insurance

    convalescent, or disabled persons in hospitals,

    institutions. May work under the supervision of

    nutritional programs to assist in the promotion
    of health and control of disease. May supervise
    activities of a department providing quantity
    food services, counsel individuals, or conduct
    nutritional research.

    occupational therapists in providing occupational
    therapy treatments and procedures. May, in
    accordance with State laws, assist in development
    of treatment plans, carry out routine functions,
    direct activity programs, and document the
    progress of treatments. Generally requires
    formal training.

  • Nuclear Medicine Technologists- Prepare,
    administer, and measure radioactive isotopes in
    therapeutic, diagnostic, and tracer studies
    utilizing a variety of radioisotope equipment.
    Prepare stock solutions of radioisotope materials
    and calculate doses to be administered by
    radiologists. Subject patients to radiation.

    conditions and diseases of the human eye and
    visual system. Examine eyes and visual system,
    diagnose problems or impairments, prescribe
