    a couple meters thick (2)
  • The Lord and his family
    were usually the only ones
    with a sufficient amount of
heat the rest of the castle was dark and cold
    (1)
  • Jesters or musicians often came to entertain the

The Church
  • Dominates everybodys life (3)
  • All people, no matter who they were, believed
that heaven, hell, and god all existed (3)
  • People were taught that the only way to get to
heaven was if the Roman Catholic Church let them
    (3)
  • Tithes could be paid in either money or their
produce they mostly paid with their produce due
to the lack of money they had (3)
  • The tithes would be kept in a tithe barn, and
the produce would be eaten by rats, or poisoned
    by their urine (3)

4
The Church continued...
  • The people also had to pay for baptisms,
    marriages, and burials
  • If you were not baptized, then you couldnt go
    to heaven when you died
  • If you were not buried on holy land your soul
    would not go to heaven
  • Peasants worked for the church for free (3)
  • Peasants paid 10 of what they earned a year to
the church this was called tithes (3)
  • The church would not have to pay taxes

5
Peasants Homes
  • The homes were usually called crucks (3)
  • No more than 2 rooms big (3)
  • Frame of the house was mad out of a mixture
between mud, straw, and manure (3)
  • Homes were cold, dark, and, damp sometimes it
was better to be outside, rather than inside (4)
  • If there were windows, they would be very small
    openings (4)
  • The small size of the windows allowed people to
look outside, and keeping people from looking
    inside (4)
