Flowers And History

• Evidence of flowers that predate the prehistoric
  period has been discovered by Fossil. There are
  traces of the association of flowers with humans
  during the Paleolithic age.

• Fossils of magnolia-woody plants that date back
  more than 93 million years are the first evidence
  of plant life. More recently, fossil tiny
  herb-like flower dating back 120 million years
  have been discovered by Paleobotanists.
• Flowering plants, called angiosperms, it is
  thought that they had a wide range in most
  locations in the middle of the Cretaceous Period
  ... 146 million years ago. A myriad of images of
  parts of flowers preserved in fossils have been
  found in Sweden, Portugal, England, and the Gulf
  Coast of Mexico. There are a few fresh cut
  flowers that have a long history.
• The archaeologists found skeletons of a man, two
  women and a child buried together in soil
  containing pollen of flowers in a cave in Iraq.
  This association of flowers with the cave
  dwelling Neanderthals of the Pleistocene era is
  indicative of the role of flowers in burial
  rituals.

• People have used flowers to express their
  feelings, increase their surroundings, and to
  commemorate important rituals and observances.
  All forms of art, depict the use of flowers
  music, books, paintings, sculpture, ceramics,
  tapestries. Some of the most opulent of reference
  material are images of flowers, produced by
  artists over the centuries 17, 18 and 19, which
  deal represents exactly the flowers with her
  incredible beauty.

• Scientists say there are over 270,000 species of
  flowers that have been documented and exist in
  the XXI century. The evolutionary history of
  flowers extends over some 125 years. During this
  time, a complex assortment of over 125,000
  wholesale flower species has been developed.
• During the Victorian era in England the language
  of flowers was as important as being "well
  dressed". For example, the recognizable smell of
  a particular flower, plant or perhaps a scented
  handkerchief sent its own unique message. But
  scientists need to answer basic questions about
  these marvels of beauty ... What led to its
  amazing diversity? Are there flowers that have
  not changed much during the evolution of this
  planet?
