8LCTCS and SkillsUSA?
- Pertinent to Louisiana SkillsUSA and the
Louisiana Community and Technical College System - In the LCTCS board meeting of July 1999, the
Academic Affairs Committee recognized by
unanimous resolution all Louisiana SkillsUSA
members, both professional and students who
achieved national merit. In the address to the
board regarding the program, Mr. Rabalais
explained, "SkillsUSA is a program that is
responsive to business and industry by promoting
occupational and leadership skills and other
assets such as employability skills in students
in order for them to make a smooth transition
from school to the workplace." - NOTICE OF BOARD ACTION
- During its meeting of February 9, 2000, the
Louisiana Community and Technical College Board
of Supervisors unanimously voted to encourage LTC
faculty participation in student organizations,
conferences, and activities, and to have
Supervisor Jared Lord formulate a letter to the
Directors of the LTC campuses expressing the
Board's support of the SkillsUSA program. - Â
