What were the events that led to the development
of The United States of America as an

The French and Indian War

• The French and Indian War was a 7 year long war
  in which Colonists and Britain fought against the
  French and some of the Indians in North America
  . The war started in 1754 and ended in 1763. The
  British had the strongest army in the world at
  that time. You can probably figure out who won.
  Yes, the British colonists won . France lost a
  terrific amount of land in North America. The
  war was very expensive for the British. On
  February 10th, 1763 The Treaty of Paris was
  signed.

The Proclamation of 1763

• The proclamation of 1763 was sent out by King
  George III on October 7th, 1763. It said that
  Colonists couldnt move west past the Appalachian
  Mountains. This made some of the Colonists mad
  because some had already bought land there.
• All of the Colonists who had bought land there
  were told to leave. The main reason why King
• George sent it out was because it cost them too
  much money to drive the Indians away from the
  Colonists. This did not work , it was impossible
  to protect the border of the Appalachian
  Mountains.

The sugar and stamp acts

• The sugar and stamp acts are very similar except
  for the things that were taxed . Both had a three
  cent tax on something. The things that were
  taxed in the sugar act were Coffee, indigo ,and
  certain kinds of wine. It banned the importation
  of French wines and rum. The stamp act included
  news papers , cards , and anything made of paper.
  But in the stamp act the excise man (the tax
  collectors) got tarred and feathered.

The Boston Massacre

• The Boston Massacre Happened after the Quartering
  act, which made it so British soldiers were able
  to take over colonists homes and the
• Townshend Revenue act which taxed the imports of
  tea, glass, lead, paper and paint. In the Boston
  Massacre British troops got snowballs thrown at
  them (we dont know if they had rocks in them or
  not). They got mad and shot 3 men including
  Crispus Attucks who was the first black man
  killed in the revoluation. This was a very
  important event because it had the first deaths
  of the Revolution.

The Boston Tea Party

• After the Tea act which made Colonists only buy
  tea from one company (The East India Company).
  This made colonists very mad. So some of them
  disguised themselves as Mohawk Indians. Then
  they got on the boats in the harbor and dumped
  all 342 crates of tea into the ocean! They could
  not be identified. Some of them were trying to
  steal tea. But the crowd stopped them.

The war begins

• After all the intolerable acts and the first
  continental congress was established, the
  fighting and and signing began. The first battle
  was Lexington and concord. What happened is Paul
  Revere took his famous ride to warn minute and
  militia men that the British were coming. The
  British troops were coming to steal ammunition.
  Paul revere warned them and the minute men drove
  all the British troops back to Charlestown. Paul
  revere didnt make it to concord. He got
  captured about half way there.

Battle of Bunker Hill

• On June 17th, 1765 the battle of bunker hill was
  fought. The Patriots had dug trenches and
  attacked. The problem was they ran out of ammo
  and had to surrender. Even though British troops
  had more fatalities, they won. This is where the
  saying dont fire until you see the white in
  theyre eyes came from.

The Declaration of Independence

• Thomas Jefferson wrote the declaration with the
  help of Benjamin Franklin. It has a very famous
  line that Barack Obama used in his inauguration
  speech. It reads We hold these truths to be
  self-evident , that all men are created equal,
  that they are endowed by their creator with
  certain unalienable rights ,that among these are
  life ,liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

We The People

• After the colonists had won the war a very
  important document was written and signed. It is
  known as the United States Constitution. We the
  people means that the people had power. It was
  written by many people and signed by many people.
  The people wanted to add a bill of rights to it
  . And today we have the Bill of Rights. See, the
  people do have power!

How Were People Affected

• The war affected people in different ways. There
  were Scottish Loyalists and Patriots and Irish
  loyalists and patriots. There were all different
  kinds of religions and sides. Most of the
  Scottish people were loyal to Britain, so they
  wanted Britain to win the war. Most Irish people
  were Patriots and came to the 13 Colonies for a
  new way of life. French people were neutral and
  didnt care who won. in my opinion the
• Native Americans wanted the war to be over. They
  lost Land, villages, homes, and ultimately their
  way of life.

Why were rights, common good and sacrifice
essential to the birth of the new nation

• Because the colonists started to lose rights
  under British control, they wanted to become a
  free nation for the common good of all people
  living in America. These patriots were willing
  to sacrifice everything for the birth of this new
  nation. Because of their sacrifice all of us are
  created equal and each have our own freedom in
  the United States of America.
