Magna Carta Causes changes in
England
22
Magna Carta
  • The Magna Carta is latin for Great Charter. It
set down rights which became part of English law
and which are now the foundation of the
constitution of all countries which speak English.

23
Who Demanded this agreement?
  • The Nobles demanded this agreement.

24
Effects of Magna Carta
  • The Magna Carta led to more changes. Faced with
war and financial troubles the king turned to a
council of nobels for advice and money, which led
    to a parlament.

25
What Were The Affects of Magna
Carta
  • The magna carta was a list of rights the king
could not ignore. He had to obey the laws and
could not make unfair choices or could not
disobey the rules because he wanted to.

26
Three Demands
  1. Everyone had to obey the magna carta, even the
    king.
  2. Nobody can go to jail without a good reason.
  3. No sheriff, royal official, or other person
shall take horses or carts for transport from any
    free man, without his consent.

27
Why are the 3 rules important?
  1. Everyone had to obey the rules so everyone would
    be equal.
  2. So they couldnt go to jail for nothing.
  3. So people cant steal things that aren't theirs.

28
Changes After Magna Carta
29
What did Magna Carta Inspire the
Noble to do?
  • The magna carta inspired the nobles to create a
    parliament.

30
Parliament
  • A lawmaking body that governs England

31
How Did the King Limit Magna
Carta?
  • The King limited the magna carta by only applying
    the rights to the nobles.

32
My Magna Carta
  • Three demands that I would seek in creating my
own Magna Carta for our class is..
  • Everyone should be treated equal.
  • Everyone should be allowed to have their
    opinions in things.
  • Nobody should take other peoples things.
