The Man in the Moon

• There is a story of a peasant man who stole
  cabbage from gardens in a small town. The towns
  folk decided to find him one day and make him pay
  for his thievery.

Everyone in the town looked for him and could not
find him anywhere. They searched for weeks and
he was no where to be found.

• They finally gave up looking and concluded that
  he must have flown to the moon. That is how the
  Man in the Moon came to be.

Woman in the Moon

• I do not see a man in the moon, but I do see a
  woman in the moon. Can you see a woman in the
  moon?

First, here are some facts about the moon

• There are two primary types of terrain on the
  Moon the heavily cratered and very old highlands
  and the relatively smooth and younger maria. The
  maria (which comprise about 16 of the Moon's
  surface) are huge impact craters that were later
  flooded by molten lava.

• There are many phases of the moon. Here is a
  picture of all the phases. We will start with
  the full moon.

• Full Moon - The Moon's illuminated side is facing
  the Earth. The Moon appears to be completely
  illuminated by direct sunlight.

Blue Moon???

• When a month has two full moons, the second is
  often called a Blue Moon.

• The Harvest Moon is no ordinary full moon -- it
  behaves in a special way. Throughout the year the
  Moon generally rises about 50 minutes later each
  day. But near the autumnal equinox, Sept.23rd,
  the day-to-day difference in the local time of
  moonrise is only 30 minutes. The Harvest moon
  happens in September.

• You are right! A maria is the dark spots on the
  moon. Astronomers used to think they were seas on
  the moon. However, we now know that they are
  smooth terrain impact craters that were later
  flooded by molten lava on the moon caused from
  craters.

  old terrain on the moon. These spots are caused
  from meterors crashing into the moon. Try again.

• Find her eyes, its the maria where the arrow is.

Now find her mouth.
Then her hair on the side of her head.
Her neck is a highland.
And finally her hair on her forehead is another
maria
