Rationale for RRRA

• Today, substantial resources are available for
  the rehabilitation and maintenance of rural roads
  with the goal to improve rural accessibility
• Their optimal use is hampered by a lack of
  knowledge of the extent and condition of the
  rural road network (RRN)

Objective of RRRA

• to create a comprehensive and accurate image of
  the rural road network at modest cost and in a
  relatively short time span to allow optimal
  resource allocation for the delivery of desired
  accessibility for the rural population

Data to be assembled in the RRD

• ? Creation of a GIS-based Rural Road Database
  (RRD)
• Data on the rural road network (extent and
  condition)
• Demographic and other geographic information
• Rural social and economic infrastructures
