• Many pioneers lived in sod houses.

• Pioneer children had many jobs to do everyday.

The girls often helped to take care of their
younger brothers and sisters.
They also helped with the cooking, cleaning and
laundry.

Older boys helped with the farming caring for
the animals, and hunting for food.

help in the garden
bring water from the creek or well to the house
care for chickens and collect their eggs
