OVERVIEW
  • The Academy of Health Careers is a magnet program
    for students interested in pursuing a career in
    health care requiring post-secondary education

MISSION
  • The mission of the Academy of Health Careers
    at Seminole High School is to afford interested
    students a rigorous interdisciplinary academic
    program that provides relevant preparation for
    health care professions at the college level or
    to begin a career in healthcare upon graduation.
    The mission is achieved through a strong
    partnership with the health care industry, the
    community, and the institutes of higher
    education.

PURPOSE
  • The Academy of Health Careers offers a
    rigorous academic preparation for post secondary
    study for students seeking a profession in the
    field of health care, pre-medicine, and
    pre-veterinarian medicine.

HISTORY PROGRESS
  • Established in the Fall of 1993
  • Recognized by the Florida Department of Education
    of one of the top seven Best Practice Academies
    in the State of Florida
  • The Academy has been visited by over 100 groups
    from other Florida schools, Departments of
    Education from the states of Georgia, Oklahoma,
    Alabama Tennessee, out of state school
    districts and foreign countries.

ELIGIBILITY
  • Students who have successfully completed 8th
    grade and reside in Seminole County are eligible
    to apply for admission to the Academy of Health
    Careers

ADMISSION CRITERIA
  • Successful completion of the 8th grade (promoted)
  • Resident of Seminole County

ACADEMY STANDARDS
  • Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 and
    earn no semester grade below a C.
  • Students must demonstrate appropriate behavior.
  • Students must have good attendance.
