Summary

• Reconstruction Ends is mostly about African
  slaves being freed and being even with whites.
  Now slaves work for tools or money. They have the
  right to vote and be part of the government.
  There not treated equally but they still have
  their freedom, but landowners are mad about them
  being freed and getting to vote. Landowners have
  to pay the freed slaves now. The ones who were
  mad made a group that hated the treatment. The
  KKK is a group of haters and they go around
  burning down schools and killing some freed
  slaves.

• Abraham Lincoln was assonated and Andrew Johnson
  was the new president.
• Andrew Johnson was the first president in united
  states history to be impeached.
• Reconstruction ended in 1877

• With the union victory,4 million enslaved people
  were freed.
• Most slaves were already free by the time the war
  ended in 1865.

Facts about life after the war

• When the Civil War finally ended , it was clear
  that peace had not come easily. More than 600,000
  soldiers were killed. Many others had come home
  wounded.
• The years following the war were hard ones.
